The Late Lounge Bank Holiday special is being carefully curated as we speak.
We reclaimed to our musical space last month and our beloved Late Loungers did not let us down. Thank you for all the messages. Glad to be back. Glad you are still happy to have us in your life. In such a crowded space as the podcast world and over 3 years since our last show, this was not a given. So, thanks.
Your passion for the show and this genre is extraordinary. I can’t pretend it’s for everyone. My sister dearest thinks it’s boring, (don’t tell Portishead that, or Moby, or any of the other doyennes of chill!) One of my old bosses at Jazz FM, (the former home of The Late Lounge for years) Mike Vitti, used to say he found the Late Lounge music depressing! Love you Mike. (He is now killing in on Mi Soul Radio and DJing upstairs at the legendary Ronnie Scott’s at weekends. It’s the best night of dancing to funk, soul and a splattering of disco and I urge you to go.)
However, those of us who love it, really love it. Like REALLY LOVE IT. Think about those moments, when temporarily, everything was right in your world and the perfect chill track played alongside. Whether the sun-soaked shores of Ibiza, (the mother land of our fave genre) or the sodden soaked fields of Wigan, it creates a feeling. That famous quote comes to mind from Maya Angelou.
‘People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.’
With that in mind, I am off to work on The Late Lounge Bank holiday Easter special which will be out on Friday 29th March, ready for the long weekend. It will be an extended offering and we will definitely have our kitchen disco track right at the end. Until then, check out the Late Lounge’s first NEW episode in over 3 years.
